Many people live in fear of creditors and other types of bill collectors. Sometimes people are worried that they will not be able to pay their debts off quickly enough and will become subjected to tax liens. Tax liens are put on individual’s properties when they either refuse to pay or cannot pay their debts. Many different creditors use tax liens, and the liens are used like collateral.

The hope of creditors is that when they impose tax liens on a person’s property, the individual will find a way to give them the money that the establishment is owed. Many people have either the rational or irrational fear of having tax liens put on their property, and they may wonder how they will know if creditors put tax liens out on their homes and properties. There is a clear way to determine when there is a new tax lien on a home or property.

Notices of tax liens are sent through the postal service and arrive to people’s homes to inform them of the situation. When people receive notices of tax liens in their mail, this indicates to them very clearly that there are liens on their home. Many different types of creditors will send out notices of tax liens to individuals that owe them money.

The Federal government is one of the organizations which use notices of tax liens through the mail to inform individuals of their situations. Many times, if people are wondering if they have any tax liens out on their property, they will know by the fact that they will have received notices of tax liens in the mail.

When a person can not afford to pay debts that are owed to the federal government or another establishment, they may be hit with tax liens. Tax liens are typically imposed on properties and real estate which will at least equal the amount of debt that is owed. Unfortunately for some new homeowners who have not properly researched their properties, tax liens are not assigned to individuals, they are assigned to the property itself. This means that in most cases, even if a person did not instigate the need for tax liens, if they own a property on which there are tax liens they are responsible for them.

There are a number of ways in which a person can approach the payment of tax liens, whether they are the individuals who were initially responsible for the payment of tax liens or not. Some of the ways in which the payment of tax liens can be handled include through the individual responsible for the tax liens or for the property, through the closing of the property by using some of the sale proceeds, and in the foreclosure of the property if a person has failed to secure the payment of tax liens within the allotted time period. The circumstances of the payment of tax liens can vary from person to person and are individually handled in most cases.

There are variations of tax liens from state to state. The individuals responsible are typically not held personally responsible for tax liens or the payment of tax liens. This is why it is so important to research tax liens and to be aware of options surrounding the payment of tax liens in the unfortunate event that a person receives them.

There are different kinds of tax liens that can be imposed upon an individual’s property or real estate. One of the most frequently seen types of tax liens in the United States are federal tax liens. Federal tax liens are imposed by the United States government in conjunction with a number of different types of taxes required of individuals to the United States Government. Some of these different categories that can lead to the placement of tax liens include failure to pay the total amount due of income tax, gift tax or real estate and property taxes.

After the failure to pay owed taxes in any of these or other categories, federal tax liens are imposed on a person’s property until the taxes are paid in full. If the home is sold, the federal tax liens are then inherited by the person or persons who purchase the property. In most cases, this does not happen since real estate researchers are often hired to research the specifics of the property, including whether or not any tax liens are in existence. In some cases, tax liens are mistakenly overlooked and the federal tax liens are transferred from one individual to another through the transfer and sale of the property.

However, with federal tax liens there is a statute of limitations that exists. Tax liens put in place by the federal government after November 6, 1990 become void, or unenforceable, after ten years from the date of the implementation of the federal tax liens has elapsed. Sometimes extensions to the tax liens or various circumstances can affect this statute of limitations on federal tax liens.

Just the sound of the words “tax lien” sounds frightening. And, to quote a line from the 1986 version of “The Fly,” someone who is looking at a tax lien on a credit report should “Be afraid. Be very afraid.”

Why? Because a tax lien on a credit report can wreak havoc with their finances for years to come and impact also every major financial transaction they make.

When Uncle Sam wants money the government is due it can put a lien on a taxpayer’s property that will remain on a credit report until the debt is settled. An individual with a tax lien on a credit report can’t expect to make any profit from liquidating their assets and in some cases their wages may be garnished also.

A tax lien on a credit report, pretty much makes the individual against who it is applied to pretty dead in the water financially, so to speak. Working with the Internal Revenue Service on repaying a debt can help in resolving the situation and thus in reducing how long a tax lien stays on a credit report.

As long as a tax lien on a credit report remains, an individual will have difficulty with their finances when it comes to applying for:

New credit cards

Mortgages

Refinancing

Car loans

Students loans

Rental property

When working to minimize a tax lien stays on a credit report, it is probably best to consult a tax attorney or tax accountant. As previously discussed, a tax lien is a serious matter and consulting a professional can help in dealing with the situation.

Settling a tax to help in removing a tax lien on a credit report involves paying off the debt, followed by a seven-year period. But just because the debt has been settled and the seven-year period has passed, don’t assume that the tax lien on a credit report has been removed.

A taxpayer should take the time to contact the three major credit bureaus Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union, to assure a tax lien is no longer part of their credit report.

A tax lien on a credit report might still be listed because it was not reported as being paid by the Internal Revenue Service or because a credit bureau did not take the time to update an individual’s credit report. Regardless of whether a tax lien a credit report still exists, finding out it is still there when an individual goes to apply for credit or make a major purchase may come as a very unpleasant surprise.

Getting a tax lien on a credit report removed involves working after the fact to resolve the problem. But keeping a tax lien from a credit report first involves never allowing a tax lien to be placed on an individual’s assets and that comes with whatever it takes for an individual to stay current with their tax payments.

A tax lien on a credit report is a serious matter. It is definitely something of which someone should definitely “Be very afraid.”

Harvey Waldman is a government employee who would like to impart his knowledge about federal taxes, including the importance of removing tax lien on credit report. According to Mr. Waldman, there are two ways that you can go about doing your taxes. Either do them yourself or using the services of a company or a professional to do them for you. He highly recommends this federal tax guide, which you can find at http://gov-taxrelief.info.

Pay less tax! Now there is a phrase I am sure we would all love to hear and rather than we then wake up to realise it was all a dream, perhaps this time we hear it for real! Less tax to pay!

What do you most look for when seeking an accountant? Perhaps locality is the most important to you, price structure or friendly service? I am sure all of these things check the right boxes but one of the most common things an accountant does for us is work out how much we have to pay in tax each and every year.

There are some accountancy practices out there that genuinely do their best on our behalf not only to provide that friendly, affordable service we all wish we had but also to help and instruct us how we can pay less tax, all within the law of course.

Personal income tax is a kind of tax system that is imposed on the personal earnings of an individual. A person pays his/her income tax on the basis of his annual payment he/she used to get as the salary or wage. In a general sense, an income tax is a tax imposed on the financial income of an individual, people or other legal entities. A personal or individual income tax is levied on gross annual income of the individual with some permitted deductions. Personal income tax usually collected on the end of every year with small or no amendments in tax structure.

Most income of an individual in UK is subject to income tax deduction under the PAYE scheme that’s an expedient personal income tax collection process for the Government. If you have interest received, your tax is usually deducted by the payer. PAYE method of tax payment allows your tax payments to be made automatically from your salary package if you are in job sector, thus dropping the hassle of excessive individual involvement in taxation process. However, in a case if you are self employed you need to fill out a self-assessment tax return at the end of each taxation period.

In case if your tax is overpaid you may get the benefits of huge tax rebates however you may also opt for other allowances which you may be entitled for, to save a considerable amount of money in income tax payments. Income taxes are paid by persons of UK on the basis of the annual income. Taxes money is spent in the development of the country in each and every field. Hence every person like as business man or employee pays their taxes to the government.

In UK, taxable personal income of an individual is not the same as his/her total income lies since all the taxpayers are permitted to enjoy a definite amount of tax-free income sometimes called a personal allowance and some are entitled to various additional allowances as well. The amount of personal income tax levied on an individual depends upon your earnings and your monetary status as well as the type of income he or she is receiving.

On the completion of your Personal Income Tax period, State income tax Office contacts your employer to arrange that you need to pay. In some cases tax could be deducted directly from your earned income after the completion of taxation period.

Taxations first known systems were around 2800 BC – 3000 BC in Ancient Egypt (The first dynasty of the old kingdom). It is recorded in the time documents that Pharaoh would take a biennial tour of his kingdom; on his tour of the kingdom he would collect tax revenues from the people of the kingdom. Granary receipts on papyrus and limestone flakes are other records that were found. The bible also describes early taxation, (The new international version – Genesis, chapter 47, verse 24) these verses in Genesis states “But when the crop comes in, give a fifth of it to Pharaoh. The other four-fifths you may keep as seed for the fields and as food for yourselves and your households and your children.” This was Joseph telling all the people of Ancient Egypt how they should divide their crops, he states that a portion should be provided to the Pharaoh making a 20% share of the crop Tax.

Taxation and Its Forms

Prior to flat banking in Monetary Economics, “Seigniorage” was a critical form of taxation, this was tax on the creation of money.

There are many other forms of Taxation, some of the more obsolete ones include:

Tax Farming – The principle of Tax Farming is to assign the responsibility of Tax revenue collection to groups or private citizens.

Tithe – Is one tenth of a persons agricultural produce or earnings (this is a tax like payment). However this is paid to the church making it too specific in technical terms to be called Tax). This method is not to be confused Tithe of the modern era which tends to be voluntary, although at times some churches have sought it with force.

Scutage – The military service pay this in lieu. In practice this functions as a Tax but rather than being a Tax as such it is strictly speaking the communication of an obligation of non-tax.

Carucage – In England Danegold was replaced by Carucage Tax.

Danegold – This was originally land tax from the medieval times, this tax was raised as a pay off to raiding Danes and also at a later date Danegold was used to fund military expenditures.

Tallage – Tallage is a tax on feudal dependents.

Accountancy Taxation – Tax Rates and Economics

The Tax Rate is Taxes levied as a percentage. When talking about tax rates it is important to distinguish the difference between the effective (average) rate and the marginal rate. The marginal rate is the rate that you must pay on the next Pound (£) of income that you earn while the Effective rate is the division of the total tax paid by the amount the tax is paid on.

Taxation transfers wealth from businesses or households to the Government (this is in Economic Terms). Microeconomics notes the side effects of taxation and it states how best to Tax, it is a very important subject in Microeconomics. Taxation is a transfer of wealth, however this transfer of wealth is almost never a simple transfer.

Sometimes people are curious to learn how tax liens and credit ratings are related, and may wonder if they are even related at all. Many people, especially those who have tax liens against them, may not like to know that tax liens and credit ratings are both capable of influencing opportunities being made available to the individual. This is because credit companies have access to both county or state tax liens and credit ratings, and these people can see not only the available credit rating but also when state tax liens are in place on the property or properties that an individual owns.

By looking at the available tax liens and credit ratings, credit companies can decide whether or not they feel a person should be given more credit or whether an individual should be denied what they are asking. In many cases, having a tax lien on the credit report does not necessitate a denial of anything, but it may influence the decision. Both tax liens and credit ratings are long standing and will affect a person for a long period of time.

The only time a credit company will be able to neglect that which they see in the tax liens and credit ratings is when there is the word withdrawn written in next to the state tax liens. When there is a withdrawn indicated, this means that the state tax liens were filed in error. Despite the error, they are still recorded on the credit report. Whether the state tax liens were filed in error or not, the tax liens will be viewable to the credit companies on the credit reports for years to come.
